Background: The reliable and valid evaluation of handgrip strength is of great importance in determining the affectivity of different treatment strategies and procedures. It is widely accepted that grip strength provides an objective index of the functional integrity of upper extremity. Many treatment protocols compare the strength of the injured limb with that of uninjured limb or compare with normative data of same group individuals. There are controversies regarding the difference in the handgrip strength between dominant and non-dominant hand in the left and right-hand dominant people.
Purpose of The Study: The main objective of this study is to establish the normative data of young adults for their handgrip strength.
Material and Method: Study includes 100 healthy (both Right and left-handed) subjects between the age group of 18 to 25 years with mean age 21.02 + 1.99 years. Handgrip strength of the subjects was measured using Hand held Dynamometer (ICC=0.9994).
Results: The results were analyzed using students 't' and the average dominant handgrip strength in young adults was found to be 29.30 + 9.772 kgs and for non-dominant hand 27.88 + 10.012 kgs, which was statically significant (t = 8.539, p = .001).
Conclusion: We conclude that the handgrip strength of male is greater than that of female. There was an overall handgrip strength difference of 7.2% in favor of dominant hand.

Study Design
A randomized experimental study. Objective The following study is a comparative analysis to check the efficacy of Muscle energy technique & G.D. Maitland’s concept of mobilization in decreasing pain and improving functional ability in patients with sacroiliac joint dysfunction. Hence prove the effectiveness of either technique as a treatment option to treat Sacroiliac Joint Dysfunction.
Methods and Measures
A total of 45 subjects with chronic low back pain were recruited in the study, with total mean age of 22.82. Subjects were randomly grouped into 3 group’s viz. Group I (n=15) Muscle energy technique and exercises, Group II (n=15) G. D. Maitland mobilization and Exercises and Group III (n=15) control. The 2 experimental groups participated in a 6 session of Muscle energy technique and G. D. Maitland mobilization respectively. The outcome measures were based on self evaluated pain (thermometer pain rating scale), disability (Oswestry disability index) and hip range of motion (Goniometry)
Results
Mean+SD decrease of visual analogue thermometer at base line for group treated with muscle energy technique was from 3.53+0.51 at base line to 0.20+0.41 post 6 sessions. Similarly for Group II decreased from 3.73+0.7 at baseline to 0.33+0.48 post 6 sessions. The mean Oswestry disability index score within the three groups at base line are, Group I=0.296+0.05, Group II= 0.27+0.05, Control= 0.28+0.05, the mean decrease post 6 sessions was 0.024, 0.067 and 0.23. Medial rotation of hip was significantly improved in subjects in Group I from 21.27+4.5 at base line to 37.93+2.05 post 6 sessions of treatment.
Conclusion
The results of this study showed that along with active exercises Muscle energy technique (MET) is moderately significant over the G.D.Maitland’s technique of mobilization in improving functional ability and increasing the medial rotation of hip joint in mechanical chronic low back pain caused due to sacroiliac joint dysfunction, while both the experimental groups were highly significant in decreasing pain and improving functional ability.

In order to assess the cardiovascular fitness of non exercising healthy adults, a standardized 6- min walk test was conducted on 15 healthy men and 15 healthy women, aged 40 to 50 years. Heart rate, blood pressure, respiratory rate and the degree of dyspnea (Borg scale) were determined before and after the test. Mean 6MWD+/- SD was 611m+/-33.45 for males and 550m+/-45.4 for females. The 6MWD was significantly less for men and women who were heavier and shorter. The difference in observed cardiovascular parameters before and after the test was also higher in females than males. The subjective sensation of dyspnea as measured by Borg Scale was also higher in females than males. These differences may be used to individualize the exercise protocols for males and females and also to highlight the importance of regular exercise.Keywords

Background and Objectives
Several screening instruments are available for the assessment of cognitive disorders in children but most of them usually require long administration times and considerable training of the examiner. Therefore, simple screening tests are needed to allow the assessment of a wider range of cognitive functions in children in a short period of time, which would assist in early detection of higher cognitive defects. Present study assess the relationship between the Mini Mental State Examination total scores and the Intelligence Quotient in order to see the adaptability of the test in Indian child population.
Methods and Material
A total of 211 school going children between the age group of 6-12 years participated in the study. The scores were obtained for both Mini Mental State Examination and Standard Progressive Matrices and the data obtained was correlated.
Results
A significant correlation was found between the Mini Mental State Examination total scores and Intelligence Quotient in Indian child population using Pearson Correlation.
Conclusion
Mini Mental State Examination can be used as a cognitive screening tool in Indian child population.

Objective
To prove that segmental breathing exercises help in increasing the chest expansion in empyema patients having decreased lung expansion.
Methods
40 empyema patients of both genders were taken in this study. Chest expansion at axillary level, 4th costal cartilage and 10th costal cartilage levels were measured before and after performing segmental breathing exercises.
Results
An increase in mean chest expansion at all the three levels was observed before and after exercise. It was highly significant at all the three levels (p < 0.001). The increase in chest expansions after segmental breathing exercises was found to be more in middle level than the apical and lower level.
Conclusion
We conclude from this study that segmental breathing exercises play an important role in early re-expansion of lungs and hence should be an integral part in early rehabilitation of restrictive lung diseases as empyema.
